RESOURCES FOR EACH STATION
The one-day Oregon Envirothon competition centers on student teams demonstrating their knowledge and problem-solving skills at five outdoor testing stations:
Aquatic ecology
Forest ecology
Soils and land use
Wildlife ecology
Current issue (a different environmental issue each year)
Each station’s test is prepared by conservation district and natural resource professionals and typically involves hands-on and site-based elements. Team members are encouraged to cooperate and collaborate to complete the station tests.
In addition to the five station tests, teams prepare a 10-minute oral presentation on a scenario related to the year’s current issue. Teams submit a video of their presentation prior to the competition day, and then those with the top two submissions are invited to present live at the competition.
To help advisors prepare participants for the competition, Oregon Envirothon provides a suite of station-specific resources. These include learning objectives, suggested learning activities and links to background information for each station topic and the oral presentation.
