CURRENT ISSUE

Envirothon’s “current issue“ is a topic that changes annually and is chosen by the host state of that year’s National Conservation Foundation Envirothon competition. Envirothon participants focus on a timely environmental concern and present relevant solutions during the competition.

In addition to engaging with the current issue testing station, teams conduct research and give an oral presentation that addresses a scenario related to the current issue. This allows participants to deeply analyze a pressing environmental issue, use critical thinking skills to explore its complexities and recommend actions for addressing it. Oregon Envirothon’s oral presentation scenario will focus on the year's current issue .
